Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Schools in Warangal

Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) is a scheme launched to establish residential schools for girls at the upper primary level, specifically targeting those from SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities. This initiative is being implemented in regions where rural female literacy rates fall below the national average and where the gender gap in literacy exceeds the national average. The scheme ensures that at least 75% of the seats are reserved for girls from SC, ST, OBC, or minority communities, with the remaining 25% prioritised for girls from families below the poverty line.

Enrolment trends reveal significant gaps in the enrolment of girls at the elementary level compared to boys, particularly at the upper primary levels.
